چکیده

Increasing the realism and thereby the explanatory power of Inter-Vehicle Communication (IVC) simulation is an ongoing research topic in the Car-2-X community. We contribute to this trend by extending the well-established Veins Framework for the OMNeT++ simulator by a multi-channel simulation model for IEEE 1609.4/802.11p enabling simulative studies to fully capture the distinctive properties of the envisioned radio technology. With this effort we help overcome the problem of using general or adjusted MAC/PHY models which could be shown to produce deviating results and thus decrease the validity of IVC simulations.

Performance Analysis of MAC Protocol of EDCA on Common Channel and Reservation on Service Channels for IEEE 802.11p/1609.4 WAVE

The IEEE 1609.4 for Wireless Access in Vehicular Environment (WAVE) network is designed to support both safety applications (e.g., emergency service) and non-safety applications (e.g., data service) for Intelligent Transportation System (ITS). The Wave operates on multi-channels consisting of one control channel (CCH) and 6 service channels (SCHs). In this paper, we propose and analyze a MAC pr...

Performance Evaluation of Multi-channel Operation IEEE 1609.4 Based on Multi-hop Dissemination

The Multichannel Operations IEEE 1609.4 is an emerging standard which support the co-existence of safety (CCH Channel) and non-safety (SCH Channel) message application in vehicular networks. This strictly concerns on the transmission slot synchronization of CCH/SCH based on Wireless Access in Vehicular Environments (WAVE) to achieve QoS requirements (i.e. to improve packet delivery ratio and re...

Performance Analysis of the IEEE 802.11p Multichannel MAC Protocol in Vehicular Ad Hoc Networks

Vehicular Ad Hoc Networks (VANETs) employ multichannel to provide a variety of safety and non-safety applications, based on the IEEE 802.11p and IEEE 1609.4 protocols. The safety applications require timely and reliable transmissions, while the non-safety applications require efficient and high throughput. In the IEEE 1609.4 protocol, operating interval is divided into alternating Control Chann...

Modeling and simulation of WAVE 1609.4-based multi-channel vehicular ad hoc networks

IEEE 1609.4 Standard for Wireless Access in Vehicular Environments (WAVE) has been proposed to enhance the performance of vehicular networks with multi-channel operations that allow for the coexistence of safety-related and non-safety related vehicular applications. At present, the evaluation of 1609.4-based Vehicular Ad Hoc Networks (VANETs) constitutes an open issue due to the lack of simulat...

A Review of IEEE 802.11p (WAVE) Multi-Channel MAC Schemes

In recent years governments, automobile manufacturers and academia are working together to develop vehicular ad hoc network (VANET) based communication technologies. In VANETs there are multiple channels i.e., control channel (CCH) and service channels (SCHS), to provide public road safety and other comforts while driving vehicle. Based on standard draft IEEE 802.11p and IEEE 1609.4, this paper...
